Launch through Steam
The Steam edition requires a running Steam client and verifies that
the current Steam account owns AimX before opening its windows.
- Start Steam and sign in to the account that owns AimX.
- Launch AimX from the Steam Library.
- If Steam was updated, fully exit Steam and open it again.
- Restart Windows if Steam and AimX remain in a stale state.
Tray and Windows startup
Closing the settings window leaves AimX running in the system tray.
Open the tray icon to return to settings.
- Use the tray menu for Settings, Toggle Crosshair, or Quit.
- Check the tray overflow area if the icon is hidden.
- Launch at Startup is optional and starts AimX silently.
- Use Quit from the tray before testing a fresh launch.
Crosshair and hotkeys
The default toggle is Ctrl + Shift + X, and the default
settings shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + S.
- Confirm the crosshair is turned on in the Crosshair tab.
- Try the tray Toggle Crosshair action.
- Rebind shortcuts that are reserved by Windows or another app.
- Reset settings if a saved configuration is no longer useful.
Multi-monitor behavior
AimX uses the display selected under Settings. It falls back to the
primary display while the selected monitor is disconnected.
- Open Settings and confirm the intended display is selected.
- Reconnect the monitor and allow Windows to finish detecting it.
- Reopen settings after changing display layout or scaling.
- Use the X/Y controls if the preferred aim point needs adjustment.
ADS hold-to-hide
ADS hiding is optional. Its global input hook only runs while the
feature is enabled or while an ADS input is being assigned.
- Enable Hide crosshair while ADS before testing.
- Confirm the assigned key or mouse button.
- Start with 0 ms hide and 40 ms restore delay.
- Increase delays gradually if the timing does not fit the action.
- Disable ADS hiding to stop the global input hook.
Presets and local settings
AimX stores its settings under %APPDATA%\AimX. JSON
import and export can move an individual crosshair configuration.
- Export useful crosshairs before resetting settings.
- Import only JSON from sources you trust.
- Malformed or unsupported values are rejected or normalized.
- Reset Settings restores application defaults and bundled styles.
